Sanding and micro-tining are essential golf green maintenance practices that involve creating small holes with micro-tines and then applying a layer of sand to fill them. This process improves soil structure, drainage, and oxygen flow, helping to dilute thatch and promote healthy root development for a better playing surface. This process typically lasts for about a week, subject to rainfall, after which the greens will return to their normal smooth-running surfaces. Note that if your ball comes to rest in an aeration hole, then you may take relief as per the published Local Rule. Once the aeration holes have healed sufficiently, Members will be informed that the Local Rule has been withdrawn.
